Overview: Jack Randall joined the apprenticeship program in June 2024 and has demonstrated exceptional learning and performance from the outset. His progress and dedication have been consistently recognised by both his mentors and employer. Danny, his supervisor, has noted that Jack frequently returns from his apprenticeship blocks with advanced knowledge, often sharing and teaching new techniques to his peers. This level of confidence and competence is further evidenced through Jack’s progress reviews, where he continues to excel.

Current Projects: Jack has been entrusted with a significant role in the high-profile London Zoo project, where he is working on the installation of CCTV and security systems. Notably, one of the installations is within the public-facing gorilla enclosure. Prior to entering this sensitive area, Jack was involved in important discussions around additional Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS) to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

The scope of the project includes the installation of nine cameras, one of which is a Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) camera, along with the setup of a new server for the indoor day gym and the outdoor lounging area.

Health and Safety Protocols: As part of this project, Jack underwent a comprehensive induction covering the specific health and safety protocols for working in a zoo environment. This included detailed instructions on appropriate conduct around the gorillas, such as not mimicking or engaging with them in ways that could provoke a negative response. The induction also covered critical health and safety regulations, including the Working at Heights Regulations 2005, the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and emergency procedures for the site, such as those related to animal emergencies or potential terrorist threats.

Additional Opportunities: In addition to his work at the zoo, Jack has also contributed to a high-profile security installation following the publicized appearance of a ‘BANKSY’ artwork. His involvement in these projects demonstrates the trust and responsibility placed in him by his employer, further highlighting his growing capabilities within the apprenticeship program.
