At Barlows, we have a number of apprentices working across various sectors, including Electrical, Fire & Security, and Plumbing & Heating. As a growing business, we know that recruitment can be a challenge, and we realised we were missing an opportunity to train Business Apprentices across our many departments.

We reached out to Skills for Security to provide the apprenticeship course and began recruiting. We now have Business Apprentices across our branches, working in various roles within our Administration teams. These apprentices are involved in areas such as EV and Solar, Customer Service, the Testing Department, which includes scheduling jobs for engineers, contacting customers to arrange maintenance, and reception duties.

Our first apprentice successfully passed with distinction and has since been promoted to Personal Assistant to a Contract Manager.

This apprenticeship programme has provided us with the chance to train apprentices across different roles within the company. They are bringing fresh perspectives and ideas from their training, which is already making a positive impact on our business.

I would recommend any business to explore apprenticeships for training administration roles. It provides a fantastic opportunity to develop your team while aligning their training with the specific needs of your company.

With the combination of on-the-job training and support from the Skills for Security team, our Business Administration Apprentices are becoming valuable members of our team. We look forward to helping them continue their development and progressing them to further training once they complete their Level 3 courses.
