FAQs

I’ve never hired an apprentice – how do I get started?

We’ll guide you through the entire onboarding process and explain everything that’s required. We offer support via phone, email, Teams or in-person visits.

Can you help my apprentice get an ECS Card?

Yes. Once onboarding is complete and the sign-up call is done, we can provide the Apprenticeship Agreement. You’ll then be able to book the ECS assessment and apply for the card once it’s passed.

How do I keep my apprentice motivated?

We’ll help with this too. We use our Retention Roadmap to monitor engagement and provide tailored support to both you and the apprentice.

How many apprentices can I take on?

There’s no limit. Previously, non-levy employers were capped at 10 apprentices, but that rule no longer applies.

What do I need to teach the apprentice on the job?

You’ll support and reinforce the curriculum being delivered by us - we’ll provide guidance on how to back up their learning in the workplace.

What equipment will my apprentice use in the training centre?

They’ll train using industry-standard tools and systems to ensure they’re confident and capable when applying their skills at work. We work with over 25+ industry brands who all provide us with their equipment for our learners to get hands on with, as well as the curriculum standard equipment.

What support should I provide my apprentice?

Apprentices should be given the opportunity to apply new skills in a real work environment through a productive job role. They should receive paid time for off-the-job training, averaging a minimum of six hours per week, along with support from a dedicated workplace mentor or supervisor. Time should be allocated for assessments and reviews to track progress. The learning environment should designed to be safe and inclusive, with encouragement and regular feedback provided to help apprentices grow both personally and professionally.

Will I face any financial penalties if an apprentice leaves or withdraws?

There are no direct costs if a learner withdraws early - funding stops at the point of withdrawal. We’re happy to explain how this works based on your funding type (Levy/Non-Levy).
