About Barlows Ltd
Barlows UK Ltd is a family run business, established in 1948 by Thomas Clifford Barlow. The business started life in 1948 as a small electrical repair shop in the village of Malpas in Cheshire. They have grown over the years and now have a head office in Malpas, Cheshire and three more offices in Manchester, High Wycombe & Lancaster. All opening a full range of property maintenance services.
The company now has over 500 directly employed staff and a fleet of over 350 vehicles.
The Apprenticeship
To protect people, homes, and property from risk and danger, their apprentices will learn how to design, install, commission, and maintain electronic systems in and outside simple and complex premises. The fire, security and emergency systems detect entry, offer surveillance, monitor and regulate access to buildings, properties, and locations.
Their Fire, Emergency, and Security Systems Engineer must be able to work both independently and collaboratively, use their knowledge and skills to ensure that systems have been properly chosen, installed, and maintained in accordance with professional industry standards, frequently without supervision, and have been done so in a way that is safe, effective, and economical to minimize waste. While also attending classes at Skills for Security, all of their apprentices will work side by side with their electricians to get invaluable on-site experience.
“This exciting new partnership is going to strengthen our Fire and Security department and ensure we are able to continue to offer a first class design, installation and maintenance service to our clients. Skills for Security delivery high-quality bespoke apprenticeship programmes for Fire Emergency and Security System apprentices so we know the future of our industry and organisation are in very good hands!"
- Matthew Scott, Director of Fire & Security
